Most flights to Costa Rica arrive through Juan Santamaría International Airport, about 15 minutes from the capital city of San José.
A local 40-minute flight connects San José to Palmar Sur via either Sansa (from San José International Airport) or via Nature Air (San José Municipal Airport). Flights arrive at Palmar Sur in the mornings. A Tekoa representative will arrange for a rental car or private transfer for your arrival at the Palmar Sur Airport that will take you on a 35-minute scenic ride to your vacation villa.
You can also choose a flight to Quepos (both Sansa and Nature Air have several flights each day connecting from San José) and then reach your vacation home by rental car or private transfer through the palm plantations. (The road the connects Quepos and Dominical is under maintenance until late 2009 and the ride will take about 1.5 hours). To shorten your trip even more, we can arrange a private flight or a transfer by helicopter.
You can explore some of Costa Rica’s scenery by planning a land trip by car or shuttle service from downtown San José or from the airport. The drive from San José to Dominical takes about four to five hours, depending on the time of day and whether you choose to travel through the mountains or along the coastline.
Head south from San José, by way of historic Cartago, through the scenic and lush mountain area of Chirripo, and into southern Costa Rica’s gateway town of San Isidro. Or go by way of Jaco and Quepos and enjoy the coffee plantations, ranches and palm plantations – with a stop near Carara National Park to observe the crocodiles lazing in the river. Either way, you’ll enjoy Costa Rica’s natural diversity, as well as the opportunity to stop for some local cuisine and several arts and crafts shops.
