When it comes to a truly first-class, authentic Costa Rican vacation experience, Casa Bellavia is the ultimate destination. This magnificent property rests in the heart of 2000 acres of natural preserve including Comunidad Ecologica de La Guapilena, Hacienda Baru and the Firestone Reserve. On this delightfully manicured estate, you’ll experience truly authentic Balinese architecture. The home was designed to bring the outdoors indoors with twelve to fourteen foot glass walls featured both front and back. The house itself, designed by the most award winning architect in Indonesia, was entirely fabricated and constructed in Bali, Indonesia then deconstructed and transported across the Pacific to be meticulously reassembled on the eco-reserve in which you’ll stay. Additionally, all furnishings and art were thoughtfully designed and custom fabricated in Bali and imported to adorn Casa Bellavia.

As you pass through an extended plant-adorned, glass covered walkway adjacent to the jungle on your entry to Bellavia, you pass over a small bridge, spanning a sixty foot water feature and three of five hand hewn copper fountains. A second fifty foot pond coupled with copper fountains is present in the rear of the house. The house itself features wide, open spaces and high ceilings featuring exposed Indonesian wood beams, rattan covered ceilings and hand carved accents. Classic to Balinese homes, the house is laid out in “pods” featuring three master-style ensuite bedrooms which stand alone but are adjacent to the house. Each suite presents ample drawer and closet space featuring dehumidification to keep clothes fresh. The principal master space incorporates a small refreshment bar inclusive of copper sink, refrigerator and complimentary espresso while it’s bath affords an oversized tub, steam room and indoor shower as well as a tantalizing outdoor garden shower. The house features three and one half baths with each suite is equipped with bidets. And, while most guests find open windows and over-sized sliding glass doors coupled with powerful ceiling fans to provide a delightful environment from Pacific and jungle breezes, each pod is equipped with individual air conditioning to establish the inside environment suited to each guest’s preference.

Welcome the day with complimentary espresso in the main pod which features a spacious, fully equipped kitchen with oversized island including prep sink and seating, a full dining room and a gathering area for conversation or TV watching….movie/video streaming is provided throughout the house with Bose music systems in each pod. As you move out the back of the main living space, a fully covered outdoor seating area is met incorporating a lounger/couch and an outdoor dining area for meals or morning coffee. The twelve meter pool area includes four reclining loungers, umbrellas and a sunken firepit attached to the pool with seating for eight. The pool additionally features a bale…an elevated and covered space including ceiling fan and Thai cushions to afford shade while enjoying the pool experience and magical Pacific views.
Hundreds of thousands of people visit the Manuel Antonio National Park each year to experience the wildlife and jungles of Costa Rica. At Casa Bellavia you can privately enjoy macaws, sloths, toucans, emerald parrots, monkeys and beyond in this pristine, 28 acre eco-reserve. Walk a maintained path into the jungle past primary rain forest foliage to experience quiet hours on a furnished platform cantilevered over the convergence of two creeks. Today, Casa Bellavia is completely solar-powered for a green, environmentally-friendly vacation experience. Further, water is supplied by our rainwater capture system, and the rainwater itself undergoes three filtering processes, including ultraviolet filtration before it reaches the house for fresh showers, cooking or laundry. Unlike most rental homes in Costa Rica, our guests do not have to experience the frequent local power disruptions as the home is equipped with a backup generator including a 15 second automatic turn on….a true treat in the area.
24-hour onsite staff is available and can easily be reached by walkie-talkie for questions about appliances, steam room operation or even the location of a light switch! And should any other difficulty arise… They can be present at the main house in less than a minute if needed! Cleaning and laundry services are provided three days a week.

What we love most about this region of Costa Rica is the combination of jungle-filled mountains and ocean. The nearby hills are a playground for wildlife and hiking enthusiasts, keep an eye for sloths, monkeys, toucans, and parrots. The nearly deserted beaches are the perfect escape for those looking to relax – Playa Dominical is three and a half miles away and has great restaurants including a local brewery. One of our favorite things to do in Dominical (and in Costa Rica) is hiking to the Nauyaca Waterfalls, this two-tiered waterfall is one of Costa Rica’s most dramatic, with a 61 meter (200 foot) combined drop and a deep natural pool for swimming and having a great time surrounded by nature.
