Hacienda Baru’s 330 hectares (815 acres) have a beautiful variety of Habitats, from wetlands and secondary rainforests in the lowlands to primary rainforest on the highland coastal ridge. Seven kilometers of walking trails and three kilometers of pristine beach are here to be explored as well as our orchid garden and butterfly garden.
Though not as popular as Playa Hermosa (near Jaco), it is a popular beach for surfing and frequented by experienced surfers looking for good, consistent waves and a more laid back atmosphere. The beach at Dominical is about 2 kilometers long, from its northern river mouth to a rocky cliff on its southern end. A beach break with surf scattered along the entire stretch of beach, it offers the most consistent surf in the region (and possibly in the country).
Baru River is the entrance of Costa Ballena, this beautiful river offer a big variety of fauna, the local people goes to fish there and you can see people doing paddle board or Kayack in this river.
